Once you have submitted your final degree paperwork, you may be wondering how you will know once your degree has been conferred. Firstly, congratulations on completing your degree! Processing the degree can take up to 14 business days after grades are posted for the quarter that you are graduating.
Once processing is complete, you will receive two emails sent to your UCI email address, please ensure to check your UCI email periodically even after graduating to ensure you do not miss these notifications along with others. The notification emails will be titled:
- “Degree Conferral Notification for YOUR NAME”
- “Degree Certification Notification for YOUR NAME.”
Both will state the title of the degree you are earning. The conferral notification will note the conferral date for the quarter whereas the certification letter will note your individual graduate date. Please note in some cases the conferral and certification date are the same. Additionally, both emails will have PDF letters attached on Grad Division letterhead with the Graduate Dean signature. These letters can be used for job and visa purposes to verify you have graduated and completed all degree requirements until official documents are available. Your official transcript will list your degree conferral 6-8 weeks after the end of the quarter in which you graduated. And your physical diploma can take 4 – 6 months for the Registrar to produce.
