Pre Arrival Checklist
Are you ready to make the most of your Anteater experience?
This checklist has been developed as a guide to assist you as you are making plans to start your graduate career at UC Irvine. Below is a listing of key tasks, followed by a detailed checklist.
April
1. Complete Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) Online
When you are admitted by the Graduate Division, you will receive a link to complete the SIR online. You must complete this process to indicate you are accepting your offer of admission to UC Irvine.
Complete the SIR as soon as possible after receiving your offer letter, and no later than April 15 when applicable.
2. Complete Statement of Legal Residence (SLR)
You should complete the Statement of Legal Residence (opens in new tab) after completing the SIR. It is used to determine residency status in order to calculate your tuition and fees.
Complete the SLR after completing the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR). You cannot register for classes until this is done.
3. Activate UCInetID and Check Your Email
Activate your UCInetID (opens in new tab) for class registration, payment of bills, and more.
Many online services, including UC Irvine Google (Gmail) (opens in new tab), EEE (opens in new tab), WebReg (opens in new tab), and ZotPortal (opens in new tab), require your UCInetID and password to log in.
Your UCInetID will be available after admission once you have filed the SIR. You will need your student ID number, date of birth, and Social Security number. Your UC Irvine email account cannot be established until after the first week in June.

Activate your UCInetID as soon as possible.
4. Apply for On-Campus Housing
If you wish to live on campus, apply for on-campus housing (opens in new tab) no later than 4:00 PM (Pacific Time) on May 2.

5. Apply for Financial Support
Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (opens in new tab) to ensure fellowship, grant, or loan funding is awarded on time.

6. Activate Your Email Account in Mid-June
Review the Office of Information Technology’s Getting Started with Email for Students (opens in new tab).
Enroll in DUO multi-factor authentication to protect your UC Irvine accounts:

7. Request Official Transcript with Bachelor’s Degree Posted
Request an official transcript with your undergraduate degree posted as soon as it becomes available in order to clear your provisional admission.
Send transcripts to:

Electronic transcripts may also be sent directly by your institution to

Note: Do not send your official transcript until it is requested.
Your department may also require an additional official transcript. Check with your department directly.
Send transcripts as soon as your degree is awarded and posted on your transcript.
All submitted records become property of the university and will not be returned.
8. UC TB Screening and Immunization Requirements
All incoming undergraduate and graduate students must complete required vaccinations and a TB Risk Screening Questionnaire.
Students are strongly encouraged to complete these requirements before arriving on campus. The final deadline for compliance is September 22.

9. Register for Classes
Use WebReg (opens in new tab) to enroll in classes.
Graduate students must enroll full-time in at least 12 units.
You must activate your UCInetID and complete the SLR before registering.
Register for classes no later than September 15.

10. Campuswide Graduate Student Welcome and Orientation
- All new graduate students are invited to the Campuswide Graduate Student Welcome and Orientation Canvas course.
- The course provides introductions to campus leadership, graduate student policies, campus resources, and the surrounding community.
- Students will receive updates from the Graduate Division regarding course access and launch dates.
11. Complete Misconduct Disclosure Questionnaire and Authorization to Release Form
All incoming graduate students under consideration for employment at UC Irvine must complete the Misconduct Disclosure Questionnaire and Authorization to Release Form (opens in new tab) after completing the SIR.
Complete this requirement after the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR). You cannot register for classes until it is completed.

12. Apply for the Graduate Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Waiver
- Health insurance is mandatory for all UC Irvine students. ReviewGraduate Student Health Insurance information (opens in new tab).
- ReviewGSHIP benefits (opens in new tab) and dependent enrollment information (opens in new tab).
- If you already have comparable insurance coverage, you may apply for a waiver (opens in new tab).
- Visit the Student Health Center (opens in new tab) for additional services and wellness resources.
13. Accept Your Financial Aid Award Using MyAid
Use MyAid (opens in new tab) to review and accept your financial aid award.
After enrollment, fees will be deducted automatically from your award and remaining balances can be paid through ZotAccount.
Complete this process as soon as possible.

14. Pay Your Tuition and Fees
There are several ways to pay your fees:

UC Irvine only accepts credit card payments online.
Pay tuition and fees before September 15. Fees must be paid by the established deadline to avoid class drops.
15. Obtain a UC Irvine Parking Permit
Parking permits may be purchased through the Parking and Transportation Office (opens in new tab).
Students living on campus will receive residential parking information through their housing community.
16. Obtain Your UC Irvine Student ID Card
Get your student ID card at The Hill bookstore (opens in new tab).
Student IDs are used for library services and other campus resources.
17. Complete the Campuswide Graduate Student Welcome and Orientation Canvas Course
Course modules open in July and provide important information about campus expectations, policies, and resources.

18. Attend Your School or Department Orientation
Departments and schools host orientation programs for their incoming graduate students.
Use Degree Programs to locate your department website and orientation details.
19. Apply for a California Driver’s License
Students from outside California who plan to drive must obtain a California driver’s license within 10 days of arriving in California.
Start the process through the California DMV website (opens in new tab).
The closest DMV offices to UC Irvine are in Laguna Hills and Costa Mesa.
20. Establish California Residency
Students relocating from another state may be required to establish California residency (opens in new tab) after their first year.
Keep receipts and documentation from your move to verify residency dates.
