Students, staff or faculty may need to submit a General Petition but are sometimes unsure as to how or if the circumstance is appropriate. The information below can assist with this process.
General Petition Policy information – General_Petition_Policy.pdf (uci.edu)
When is a General Petition appropriate?
- Transfer of units (used for master students only)
- Waiver of courses (used for doctoral students only)
- Substitutions (can only be from classes taken at UCI)
- Low-grade requests (used to request one B- to count towards the degree)
You need to submit one form per request. If submitting for the Transfer or Waiver option, official transcripts are required and must be attached upon submission. When submitting for the Low-grade request please be aware this can be submitted for a grade of B- only, grades C or lower are not permitted. Additionally, not all programs allow the use of the Low-grade request, please check with your program if interested in this option. Last, if the form is incomplete, it cannot be processed and will be voided.
