Special Event: December 9-12

HOME STRETCH: Finals Week Workspace

Monday, December 9 - Thursday, December 12 from 9AM to 5PM. 

HOME STRETCH provides a dedicated, quiet individual workspace while creating an opportunity to build community with your fellow graduate students and postdocs. This event is an opportunity for you to set goals, be productive, and accomplish your to-do list. This event is for EVERYONE, whether you are working on your dissertation, a conference paper, grading papers… HOME STRETCH is for you! Drop-in throughout the day or stay all day long! 

There will be a Motivation Monday Kickoff Breakfast at 9AM on December 9 to start the week off strong. Healthy snacks will be provided daily. Lunch will be served on Wednesday, December 11 at noon. Food is provided on a first come, first served basis. Please register for each meal you plan on attending here

The Graduate Resource Center (GRC) is open:

  • Monday through Thursday from 9AM - 7PM
  • Fridays from 9AM - 5PM

The GRC is located on the third floor of the Gateway Study Center - in between the Langson Library and the Cross-Cultural Center, directly across from Aldrich Hall. The main entrance is located at the rear of the building (facing Aldrich Park). Click here for a map to the GRC.

Activate to Captivate

Tuesdays, January 14 to March 3 from 9:30 – 11:30 AM or 

Wednesdays, January 15 to March 4 from 9:30 - 11:30 AM
Public Speaking:Activate to Captivate is an 8-week communication certificate program for postdocs and graduate students. Participants will learn and practice strategies to craft a dynamic and compelling presentation including:

• Overcoming anxiety
• Commanding a room
• Communicating effectively with an audience of any size  

 

Communication Support

Excellent communication skills are essential to professional success. This includes public speaking, interpersonal communication,, interview techniques, and the ability comfortably to a variety of audiences. Click here to learn more about these initiatives.
