Advanced Training Boot Camps


Get personal assistance with strategies to help you deliver more impactful talks about your research, prepare for interviews, or reduce anxiety when speaking.


Writing consultant appointments are for all disciplines, and can review: Academic writing Funding applications, Job application materials.


Discuss job search strategies, prepare for interviews, and get your CV or resume reviewed! Meetings are on a first-come, first-serve basis on Tuesdays from 10 A.M. to Noon. No appointment required!

Interview Skills Boot Camp

FRIDAY, APRIL 12 FROM 10 A.M. – 4 P.M.
This one-day boot camp provides the tools for participants to enter any interview situation with confidence, including how to:
• Adapt to changing circumstances and handle surprises with confidence
• Practice effective small talk
• Interview in any setting including with an individual, a panel, during a meal and on Skype


In partnership with the Division of Career Pathways, the GRC provides additional career resources from
one-on-one advising to specialized workshops.

Converting Your CV into a Resume


Looking to apply to internships or non-academic jobs? Come learn how to convert your CV into a resume! In this workshop you will learn the differences between a CV and a resume, when to use which, and how to communicate your skills to a broader job search market. Bring your laptop or a printed draft of your CV and/or resume to make edits during this session.

Networking & Your PRofessional Brand

Building a professional brand opens up the professional and networking opportunities necessary to establish a successful career. This session will get you started to ensure success when marketing yourself to future employers, funders, and beyond.

With countless resources available online to assist you on your career journey, it’s hard to know which ones are worthwhile. Come learn about useful career related resources available to you as a UCI student! This session will feature an overview and demo of career technologies and one-on-one assistance from Division of Career Pathways staff to help get you started. Topics will include: Big Interview, Imagine Ph.D., Versatile Ph.D., and more. Be sure to bring your laptop!
