Welcome From The Dean
WELCOME FROM THE DEAN
Welcome to UCI!
Since our foundation in 1965, the UCI has quickly grown to become a world-class research university. Our faculty and graduate students continue to create new technologies, explore innovative approaches to research challenges, and foster excellence in scholarship. Our campus, is consistently recognized as a trailblazer in a broad range of fields. The campus’s diverse community and varied academic offerings paired with first-rate leadership create an environment worthy of any passionate, dedicated scholar.
UCI is one of 62 universities in the U.S. and Canada elected to membership in the prestigious Association of American Universities. We are also recognized as being one of the top producers of underrepresented minority Ph.D.s in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. Our campus offers challenging and intellectually rich curricula designed to help our students achieve academic and professional fulfillment. The combined efforts of our accomplished faculty, dedicated administrators and staff allow us to remain at the forefront of academic excellence. Our graduate students become leaders in their fields – paving the way for tomorrow’s next generation of researchers, entrepreneurs, teachers and mentors.
Our mission in the UCI Graduate Division is to foster the success of our graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. My staff and I have worked to strengthen UCI’s commitment to all dimensions of graduate education. Our graduate services are unparalleled; in fact, our Graduate Resource Center (GRC) is one of the first such centers in the country, offering a wide variety of personal and professional development opportunities — including communications, funding and mental wellness workshops, peer review sessions and work-life balance discussions — for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. The GRC also offers writing consultants and space for students to study or to meet in small groups.
I hope you find our campus to be as interactive, collaborative, energetic and supportive as I did during my first visit 30 years ago, and as I still do today. Explore the many opportunities here at UCI and join our Anteater community.
