The DECADE (Diverse Educational Community and Doctoral Experience) mission is to increase the recruitment and retention of diverse students receiving doctoral degrees at UCI; postdocs are invited to select DECADE events. Dr. Kubrin will discuss Rethinking Crime and Immigration and address the myths and stereotypes surrounding the immigration-crime link. Register here for 3/9. OPA- “Nail that Interview”‐ Mock Interview Practice
Mock interviews help prepare you to show that you are the best candidate for the job. Postdoctoral scholars will be paired to practice expected and unexpected questions. Questions will be tailored to postdocs career goal (academic,
industry, non‐profit). Everyone will be engaged during this workshop and leave with greater confidence to “nail the interview”.

NIH Addresses the Science of Diversity: Focusing on Institutional Change
As NIH’s first permanent Chief Office for Scientific Workforce Diversity, Dr. Hannah Valantine leads NIH’s efforts to diversify the biomedical research workforce by developing the vision and comprehensive strategies to expand recruitment and retention, and to promote inclusiveness and equity throughout the biomedical research enterprise. She joins us at UCI to discuss her nationally-recognized transformative approaches to diversity through innovation and data-driven approaches.
