Postdoc Halloween Pumpkin Carving Fun

Saturday, October 21, 6:30-10:30pm  NS1 Rm 1114
Come carve pumpkins with other postdocs! The PDA will provide the pumpkins, snacks and drinks, and we will have a silly contest for best pumpkin. UCI Libraries- Scopus Database Training Workshop

We now have access to the Scopus database, a bibliography database which contains abstracts and citations for academic journals, some proceedings and a growing number of book chapters.  It covers nearly 22,000 titles from over 5,000 publishers, of which 20k are peer-reviewed journals in the STEM fields of scientific, technical, medical and social sciences disciplines (including arts & humanities).  Particularly useful in conducting systematic reviews and other information & data intensive research.  There are metrics at the author, article and source level. Third Annual Elevator Pitch Series and Competition sponsored by GPS-BIOMED
This series will help graduate students and postdocs craft brief and meaningful vignettes about what they are passionate about; the workshops and Live Final Pitch are open to postdocs across campus. This series starts with two events on October 18 and 19 .  Details and register here.

Undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars are invited to learn about a range of internship and funding opportunities offered by the Division of Community and Education at the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) that are applicable across all areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The office oversees more than $9.2 million in programming and funding sources, with initiatives ranging from food safety to climate change and research support for STEM fields.
